Nomadic culture of Mongolia
Every country has own specific culture that differ from other countries. Mongolia has a great culture from the earliest time including music, song and dance. But the most famous culture that expresses Mongolia to foreign countries is nomadic culture that has the history of hundreds of years. From the ancient time, Mongolians had nomadic lifestyle based on 5 kinds of livestock. Because of the extreme climate and animal husbandry Mongolians move one place to another searching for good pastureland for their livestock.
Through the many decades, nomadic lifestyle created great culture of Mongolia. A example of this is Mongolian national dwelling "ger". The ger is made of wood but without any nails. It is considered that origin and design of the ger used today was fully developed by the 16th century. The ger is the dwelling that perfectly suited to the nomadic lifestyle by every single detail. It is very easy to assemble and disassemble, light, portable and very spacious inside. As well as the ger is very durable. It can be used for ages. The size of the ger is determined by the number of its wall.
Moving one place to another was not wandering, It was a wonderful intellect. In advance, Mongolians plan date and place to move. The head of the family or the elders decide where to move and settle. Herders move to new pastureland for their livestock. Because life of them completely depend on their livestock that provide them with meat, diary product, transportation, wool, cashmere and so on. Mongolians accumulate knowledge about domestic animal, ecology and habitat and transfer them from generation to generation. As well as nomadic Mongolians worship the nature. They can predict the weather by the sky, the moon and the stars.
It is impossible to imagine Mongolians without nomadic culture based on animal husbandry. Nomadic culture is the base of Mongolian culture and thinking. Although, in the 21th century century although 80-90% of the citizens settled down in the cities leaving nomadic style, there are still group of people who are following the way of nomadic lifestyle and reserving nomadic based culture.
